Kids’ Test Kitchen Class Assistant

Class Assistants work alongside experienced Kids’ Test Kitchen facilitators to help create a fun, welcoming, hands-on learning experience for every participant.

No teaching experience? No problem. If you enjoy working with children, are eager to learn, and want to make a difference, we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

What You’ll Do

As a Class Assistant, you will:

  • Welcome and encourage participants throughout class.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup.
  • Support participants during hands-on cooking activities.
  • Encourage teamwork and food exploration.
  • Help create a safe, organized, and food-positive learning environment.
  • Work alongside an experienced Kids’ Test Kitchen facilitator.

Compensation

Class Assistants work with Kids’ Test Kitchen as independent contractors (1099).

  • Earn $25 per class that you assist.
  • Class Assistants typically arrive 10–15 minutes before class to assist with setup and remain 10–15 minutes afterward to help with cleanup.
  • Accept class assignments based on your availability.

What to Expect

Our hiring process is designed to help us get to know one another.

  1. Complete a brief online application below.
  2. Meet with our Team Development Manager for a short Zoom conversation (about 20 minutes).
  3. Meet with our Operations Coordinator (Zoom) to discuss your availability and answer any questions.
  4. Shadow a Kids’ Test Kitchen class to see the program in action – whenever possible.
  5. Complete orientation and training before accepting class assignments.
